So I was watching the Dodgers-D'Backs game last night and saw a rare sight; Manny Ramirez hit a dribbler between the pitcher and catcher and he actually hustled down the line to beat out the throw. I don't ever recall seeing Manny run out a play like that. If I were a Red Sox fan I would be pissed because regardless of the all the numbers he put up, he could never seem to care enough to run out a grounder and then the first day with a new team he's hustling like some 21 year old rookie. If there was ever a true addition by subtraction, I think we're going to see it with this Red Sox team.
On another note, the Yanks lost a heart-breaker last night 1-0, got great pitching out of Ponson and couldn't scrape up 1 run. The great teams find a way to win those types of games. The good news is that the Yanks have scored 5 runs in the first 5 innings today.
People that know me know of my dislike for FOX's Joe Buck but I have to give him credit today, Jose Molina leading off the fifth inning, Buck said that Molina is in a good spot because he hits well when he leads off an inning and 2 seconds later Molina hits the ball off the foul pole. Good observation Joe Buck.
Good race going on in the NL East right now, I think that this might be the race to come down to the last week of the season with the Phillies, Mets and the surprising Marlins battling it out.
Should be a good race.

I did not get to see Manny Ramirez and his out of caracter actions last night, but I can only imagine myself getting the same reaction.
Manny has always been a loafer,
but we all know it will only last for a game or two as he needs to make a nice impression with his new surroundings.
I was at the game as you already know, and I got to see Jose Molina hit that foulpole for what was his 2nd hit in the game, but the Yankees did not score 5 runs in the 1st inning today. What they did do was play a good game overal. Mike Mussina gave up 2 runs in the 2nd inning as the Yankees quickly found themselves down 2-0 early.
Then the Yankees Wilson Betemit tied the game up with a 2 run blast in the bottom of the 2nd off Weaver.
From their on the Yankees tacked on runs using the long ball. Arod, Bobby Abreu, Molina, and Betemit went deep.
Their was also a Brain Bruney appearance, I believe his 1st action in a long time.
I remember you was high on Bruney ealier in the season, Bruney pitched the 9th and gave up 1 hit, and no runs. AL East should also be a nice race and one where it could come down to the last week of the season, as The Yankees will have to battle it out with the Rays and Redsox. Right now it is hard to choose who will come out on top as all 3 teams can take the division.
As for the Mets, weird 9th inning, as once again the Mets blew a Santana victory. Santana should be 14-8. Once again it was Billy Wagner who was in the middle of an odd play at the plate as 2 runners scored a second apart, causing a collission in where Mets catcher Ramon Castro gets hurt in the collition where the 2 runners tied up the game leading to extra innings. Eventualy the Astro's won the game in the 10th, as the Mets lost a game they had. Now the Mets are 2 games back and a bit off in their game play. I agree it should make for an interesting NL east race between the Mets, Phillies and the Fish. Right now the Mets are hurting a bit with John Maine being a concern but you hope they can hold it together with what they have. Omar Minaya did not add anyone to help the team but there was really no one appealing out there. I do feel confident about the pitching of Mike Pelphey, in the begining of the season he was to me, and the Mets, a #6 starter on this Mets rotation. Now Pelphey is pitching like a #2 and has helped the team turn it around with his pitching. I have to give Mike Pelphey some props for the Mets recent turnaround. Plus my boy Jose Reyes who to me is the Mets MVP, has been playing MVP ball, especially right after Willie Randolph got fired.
Oh and staying with Willie, I just happened to watch the reply of the old timers game ceremonies, which as you all ready know did not get to see as we got to the game in the 2nd inning, but Willie got the most emotional ovation from the crowd, cleary the most heart felt of them all. I was happy to see Willie getting the LOVE cause I know Willie was really hurt when he lost his JOB, and now he sees his former team play better baseball without him and that cant feel good to anyone, Willie Randolph needed a nice hug and he got it.
Hey...I said 5 runs in the first 5 innings no the first inning.
It was nice to see Willie get a nice ovation at the Stadium today. Once a Yankee always a Yankee.
ops my bad with the misunderstanding, I was a bit blunted at the time.
One thing I forgot to mention, where was Bernie Williams?
